A beautiful Victorian spa town perfect for an elegant weekend away from it all. With majestic buildings housing art galleries and fine antique shops, a morning can easily be whiled away hunting out some treasures to take home before relaxing over lunch in one of the many brasseries. Or opt for the traditional Bettys tea room in the heart of the town. Bettys is a Yorkshire institution and the Harrogate tea room was the first outpost opened in 1919 by a Swiss confectioner and baker. Celebrating it’s centenary this year there are some jaw dropping patisserie creations in it’s window to marvel at. It’s definitely a favourite of ours!
Harrogate is a perfect place for garden lovers with RHS Harlow Carr close by and we’d recommend a visit no matter the time of year, even in winter the garden comes to life with its Glow Winter Illuminations with stunning light displays after dark.
